A conviction of any crime involving dishonesty will render you ineligible to receive a real estate license, as would a conviction of offences listed within the Fair Trading Act 1986.
To become a real estate salesperson, you will need to obtain either a New Zealand Certificate in Real Estate (Level 4) or a National Certificate in Real Estate (Level 4), both of which can be obtained with the help of a handful of tertiary organisations.
